Cancer Care Center
The project is conceived from the perspective of a patient newly diagnosed with cancer, initiating a comprehensive architectural response to the physical, psychological, and emotional journey from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. The proposal acknowledges the complexity of this process, addressing the intensity of therapies, the uncertainty of recurrence, and the need for environments that provide stability, clarity, and support.
The center is designed as a facility for specialized and continuous care, offering spaces that foster trust,
serenity, and a sense of refuge. The spatial strategy prioritizes warm, tactile, and human-centered atmospheres, positioning architecture as an active agent in the healing process.
The project is structured around three fundamental stages, Acceptance, Treatment, and Healing, articulated through five interconnected “Molecules”. These programmatic units create a sequence of spaces with distinct identities unified by a coherent material and spatial language. Their arrangement is embedded within the landscape of Quinta de Torre Arias Park, where nature acts as both therapeutic medium and unifying framework. The resulting composition forms an integrated system in which architecture, landscape, and emotional well-being operate in synergy, creating a restorative environment that supports the patient throughout the recovery process.
